About Christy

About Me... Christy! A brief intro: I am a mom, wife, cook, chauffeur, maid and dog walker. When I have a minute to spare (haha) I enjoy all things crafty! Photography (film and digital), quilting, sewing, duct tape and of course, paper are just some of the things I like to challenge myself in/with. Photography is where it started. I have worked in a photo lab, high end photography studio and developed my own negatives. I enjoy the freedom that comes with digital, photoshop has been fun and challenging to learn, but the sky is the limit on what you can do. Then sewing. Let me explain this... I FAILED home economics in middle school (dates me a little) well, not failed, but I did get a D-. I later picked it up and really enjoyed it and found I did well. I started to design my own purses and even did a few craft shows and sold some of my work. I put it away for a few years and then my brother had a baby boy :) I made him my first quilt and was hooked! When I got pregnant with my son, I knew I wanted a better machine and invested in a beginner embroidery machine. LOVED it! Later my sister had her son and asked me to make the bedding for the nursery and created my first real quilt with actual free motion quilting (I will share those projects at a later date). I actually just upgraded to a bigger machine, the Brother ULT 2002D. It is amazing the difference from my first machine to this one! Now there is paper crafting.... It started with cards and my own wedding invitations. YouTube became a regular "TV" series to me. I loved watching what the ladies were going to make and try to replicate them. I have found that I tend to enjoy the grungy look, Tim Holtz is a favorite. I love the layering, embellishments and inking that goes into the "creating". My end result is never what I pictured and usually better :) I love that it is paper and you can crumple it if it's not going right (& sometimes I use that crumpled paper)... it is the best creative outlet for me. I can't wait to show you more of me and my style, my likes and dislikes and maybe give you some inspiration!
