Today I have been stuck in my studio for what seems like the entire day. I have a 4 day weekend off from my yogurt pushing job so I figure I would take advantage of it and neglect everything else that needs to be done in my house. Don't you love those days?! Now labels are not the only thing I have been doing today. I have been cutting, gluing, rocking out to awesome music, and drowning in paper debris for a potential tutorial later. If I deem it worthy.
But we are still in our organizing week for now and I want to share a find I found a few weeks ago. Since I started getting in to the storage part of scrapbooking I have hit some walls with 12x12 storage. There are tons of options out there which is overwhelming and can get expensive. Yes, I have a few plastic bins from IRIS but I bought mine from Michaels on sale for $3 each. I use those however for current projects. (I make it a point to only have 4 going on at a time now) but then I came across this!
I love Craigslist! Originally listed for $50 I got it for half price and it had quite a bit of scrapbooking stuff in it, just not my style stuff so I plan on selling it over the weekend to see how much of my money I can get back. I'm hoping at least a $20 return. It's made by Advantus and accommodates 12x12's with plenty of room to spare with hanging file folders that came with it! It even has a paper tray on the side for people like me that just need a place to stash something and file it later. I couldn't seem to find a link to one with this depth which is 14 or so inches. So labels!
Started with the Retro Template Labels in Microsoft Publisher with the color theme Metro. Check out this tip from Scrapbook.com Get Organized Week #4:
Tip:
Using white text on a black background maximizes the information processing into long-term memory. Want to be able to quickly and easily remember where your supplies are located in your studio? Use the white on black principle for your labels. They can be made on the computer, or black tape with white text for label makers can be found at office supply stores.
I work with just one template and shrink it and expand it if I need a different size. It just depends on what you are putting the labels on but most manufacturers sizes already have a pre-loaded template in Publisher. Easy Peasy! <~my spell check is having a ball with that one.
Just got some of the basic categories that I am already working with.
And made some for my Ikea boxes while I was at it.
A little more work over the weekend and the Crafting shall Commence!
